After a six-month wait, my ASIAir Plus arrived last week. The clouds parted just long enough last night for me to give it a test run (after spending way too much time learning about it on Youtube), and it definitely exceeded my expectations. Plate-solving was incredibly easy and accurate. The only downside is that I live in a brick house and the ASIAir's WiFi signal had trouble reaching my phone. I had to stand by the window nearest my outside setup to get a signal. Oh, well.
I'm only using it now to control my camera and mount, but will add an autofocuser sometime later. My guide camera (Lacerta MGEN 3) doesn't interface with it, to my knowledge.
I was forced to tear everything down and bring it inside when a random thunderstorm popped up on radar and started heading my way. I didn't want to publish only 54 minutes of data, but the forecast continues to look gloomy for the foreseeable future - so here it is
. I'd love to add more data to it if the sky clears up soon.
Sh2-115 is an interesting, dynamic emission nebula in Cygnus. The round object in the lower left of the image is Sh2-116 (also Abell 71), which most sources document as a planetary nebula. However, more recent data indicates that it could be a compact HII region.
