Description

Compilation of Images of the solar eclipse on April 8, 2024 showing the progression of the eclipse through the partial phases and totality.

See https://astrob.in/wz0sot/F/ for my eclipse story...  We had a good view of the partial and total phases of the eclipse despite persistent high clouds.  I finally got around to processing some of the partial eclipse images and assembled them into this composite image.

Imaged with a Astro-Tech AT60ED, 1.6x Antares Barlow, UVIR Cut Filter 2" (and Baader Astrosolar filter for the partial phases), and Nikon D5300 (astro modified). Imaging train was configured to give ~F/11 (FL=650mm).  Single exposures ranging from 1/4000 to 1/2000 seconds for the partial phases and 1/4000 to 1/50 seconds during totality, all at ISO-1600.

Rev B:  Animated GIF of eclipse progression

Rev C: TSE: the beginning and the peak...  Superposition of pre-eclipse full Sun and Totality images illustrating the differences in apparent diameter between the Sun and Moon at the time of the eclipse.
