Description

This is the final entry in the Summer of Darkness - though the acquisition extended a bit into autumn. This is another one where there turned out to be a lot more going on in the frame than I expected. This turned out to be a lot of fun to process though it brings me up against the limits of the data and the tools as the extreme stretch required to bring out the fainter parts of the dust also brings out some horrendous halo artifacts. I was able to (more or less) tame them though some residual halo crud remains (but it's a lot better than it was!).

This is also another one that shows just how deep amateur images are today compared to the plates they used when these catalogs were defined. LDN 1295 is just a fraction of the cloud it is a part of and the same is true of 1296. But, regardless of the catalogs, it's a fascinating region!.
