Description

KLW 1 is a ring shaped planetary nebula which only has been imaged in sky surveys and by HST in infrared. It measures an angular size of only 12 arcseconds. This is to our knowledge the first true color image of this very interesting nebula, in HOO pallette. The nebula contains virtually no OIII as is evident by its spectra as well as in our imaging. The very faint CSPN was not resolved in the gas line filters but should come out in extensive luminance imaging which we will try on a later date.
The kinetic age of the nebula is not known however distance estimates were made in a research which gave values between 4.7 and 9.5Kpc.

The ring has a slightly pointed end to the right and there is an outflow of gas to its bottom right which can be seen in this image aswell. Its morphology is classified as Elongated.

Captured at Taqwa Space Observatory, Pakistan's only privately owned dark sky observatory (bortle class 1) located in the province of Balochistan.
