Description

Hello!

I'm happy to share with all of you Version 2, of M94! Unfortunately this time around I was not able to pull fine detail out of the Galaxy itself. This tine around I was able too process the data better! I will be working on a 3rd and hopefully final version. Thanks for looking!

Located about 17 million light-years away in the constellation of Canes Venatici, Messier 94 (M94) is a majestic spiral galaxy that has captivated astronomers and astrophotographers alike. As we delve into the details of this stunning galaxy, we'll also explore some of its fascinating neighbors, including a trio of galaxies that are closely tied to M94's cosmic dance. M94: A Spiral Galaxy of Unparalleled Beauty M94 is a face-on spiral galaxy, characterized by its vibrant blue color and sweeping arms of stars, gas, and dust. With a diameter of approximately 30,000 light-years, it is relatively small compared to other galaxies in the universe. However, its proximity to our own galaxy, the Milky Way, makes it an attractive target for astronomers seeking to study the structure and evolution of galaxies. One of the most striking features of M94 is its central bulge, which is dominated by an older population of stars. The bulge is surrounded by a disk of stars, gas, and dust, which gives rise to the galaxy's characteristic spiral arms. These arms are thought to be the result of density waves that propagate through the galaxy's disk, triggering the formation of new stars and star clusters. The M94 Group: A Collection of Cosmic Neighbors M94 is not alone in its cosmic journey. It is part of a small group of galaxies known as the M94 Group, which consists of five members: M94, M91, M98, NGC 4565, and NGC 4477. These galaxies are all spiral or lenticular in shape, and they are thought to have formed together through the gravitational interaction of their dark matter halos.
