Description

NGC2403 - Moderate Spiral Galaxy in Constellation Camelopardalis - the Giraffe.
8 Million LY away / 50,000 LY across.

Lots of new star forming regions as indicated by the abundance of pinkish knots of glowing atomic hydrogen gas in the galactic arms. While slightly more oblique,  NGC2403 is often compared to our local group's M33 Triangulum Galaxy for its’ similarity in size and characteristics of star formation regions.

My hope with this image was to portray a more natural appearing "Island Universe". So I tried to be more gentle with PixInsight's processing tools and tried to not over-saturate or push the colors of any components of the image - especially in the background and the Ha regions within the galaxy.
