Description

Together with a couple of other astroimagers, I traveled to Ashokan Reservoir on May 12th, 2024 to take some pictures of Aurora Borealis which was predicted for that night. I arrived around 7 PM and setup my two cameras on a walkway next to the reservoir. There were about 50 people gathered in the area. As soon as it became dark, I started the intervalometer on both of my cameras. Initially the sky was covered by clouds, but around 10PM clouds moved away. We almost lost hope to see aurora, but then suddenly we started seeing streaks on our exposures and then we started seeing it on the skies. The aurora did not last long, probably 10 minutes, but it was a great show.

This image was taken as part of a timelapse which was taken using Canon RP and Irix 15 lens with 8s interval, 6s exposures,  and floating ISO.
