Description

IC 59 and IC 63 are mixed emission-reflection nebulae which are illuminated by the bright star Gamma Cassiopeiae. While the somewhat brighter nebula IC 63 is dominated by reddish emission, the paler IC 59 is dominated by bluish reflection. Due to their low surface brightness the two nebulae are also called ghost nebulae or Cassiopeia's ghosts.

The small nebulous object near the center of the image gave me a surprise. Simbad provides only sparse information: Dark nebula, Dobashi 3771, at the top of the object in this image.  At the center there is the infrared source RNO 4 and the star cluster [BDS2003] 50. A more detailed close-up of this object can be found in @Gary Imm's vast "database".

Thank you for taking the time to read and watch!
