Description

NGC 4236 is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation of Draco. Interestingly, its center lacks a bright galactic core, which distinguishes it from typical spiral galaxies. NGC 4236 is also one of the most oblate spiral galaxies. Its flat shape is the result of dynamic internal forces that give the galaxy its distinctive appearance. NGC 4236 was once considered an irregular galaxy due to its lack of clearly defined spiral arms. Only later studies revealed the spiral structure of this galaxy, which made it an interesting object for astronomers to study.
