Description

In December of 2021 I discovered this really insane structure in the continuum of Oiii embedded in the small Sagittarius star cloud, m24. This structure belongs to the supernova remnant G013.3-01.3 http://snrcat.physics.umanitoba.ca/SNRrecord.php?id=G013.3m01.3, which @Marcel Drechsler identified on my behalf. The keen amongst you may also notice there is a StDr object within the field of this image! Its that little blue guy on the left of the star cloud StDr 156 (https://planetarynebulae.net/EN/page_np.php?id=1061). My lack of knowledge of astrophysics gets the better of me here, because I can't really offer an explanation of how this insane structure is forming. All I can offer is: wow this thing is weird looking! Would love to shoot this at a higher focal length some day, because the structure is amazing.

I am giving these the name "the blue sprites" because they remind me of the red sprites which form during thunderstorms

EDIT:

after reading about this thing's initial discovery paper I noticed there were some initial discovery images oh the H-alpha structure, however the Oiii was not known. Here is the inital Ha image in 1995. Also note this discovery image doesn't cover the H-alpha structure which goes on for ages on the opposing side of the dust cloud.
