Description

At this month's NHAC (North Houston Astronomy Club) Star Party Tom Conley and I decided to turn our imaging rigs to a target that neither of us had tried before.  We chose NGC 7023, the Iris Nebula, a reflection nebula in Cepheus that is rather small and dim.  The attached image is a combination of his and my data.

Color data collected by Tom's Williams Optic FLT 91 + ASI 2600MC.  16 x 5min subs.
Lum data collected with my Samyang 135 + ASI 1600MM.  40 x 3min subs.

The imaging scale of our two setups does not match up well.  I had to crop out around 40% of my image just to get Pixinsight to be able to do a star alignment with his smaller field of view.  But it was a fun experiment and the resulting image turned out pretty good I think.
