Description

Every year, I enjoy M45 at any focal length and this year was no exception. I originally wanted to see how the 2600MC and RASA8 paired for first light, but the moon and clouds prevented this capture as a first option. Last night, the clouds cleared with a 30% moon and I tried to make the most of the night. An hour on M45, 4 hours on NGC 1555/Sh2-239, and 4 hours on a dusty region in Ersa Major.

60 one minute subs did not disappoint on the the Pleiades. I may have not stretched the stars as far as they should of gone with GHS, but I wanted to highlight the dust in the cluster and the surrounding molecular cloud.  I also managed to misalign the camera by 7 degree and had to rotation crop this image. I caught the error prior to moving to the next target.

M 45 Pleiades is an open cluster. This collection of young, large, fast burning stars, is easily visible in the night sky unaided. The young stars area surrounded interstellar dust and debris that is reflecting their light as seen by the swirling reflection nebula.

The cluster is approximately 440 light years from earth and measures 8 light years across its core cluster of stars.
