Description

One of the smallest objects I have photographed thus far, but a very nice one:

The Ring Nebula is a so-called planetary nebula, located in the constellation Lyra. The central star is reaching the end of its life and will become a white dwarf. At this stage, it expels different types of ionised gases (mostly sulfur, hydrogen, oxygen), each of which have a distinct colour. The result is this photogenic jewel.
