Description

A much-imaged target, but never a tiring one, M-43, or the "Bird's Head", is part of the Orion Nebular Complex, which includes M-42, Barnard's Loop, and just about everything else in the Hunter. The 'Head' is a vast star-forming HII region, with massive star, HD37061, being the main illuminating component of this tremendous cloud; it's actually a triple star system. All of this beauty is not a chore to find; look for the "Sword" hanging just south of Orion's 3-star belt.
