Description

More than 100km in length and 1-3km wide, Rupes Recta is definitely one of my favourite spots on the Moon. It has been observed that it is 200-300 high and quite shallow, and not that steep as it looks in the earth-based images. Moreover, close-up images from LROC reveal several wide faults along, so this spectacular apparently-straight feature is not uninterrupted.

Next to Mare Nubium there are other fascinating features and craters like Rima Birt and the crater next to it that holds the same name, ancient Thebit, and the gorgeous Arzachel and its rimae.
