Hello All,Wanted to share a recent image of the Crescent Nebula. My intention with the image was to showcase the blue outer shell of the nebulae. Considering that my backyard observatory is in a white zone I wasn’t sure how well it would turn out.Here are some of the details:Equipment used:Tak BRC 250Paramount MXQHY268cTriad Quad Band FilterOff Axis Guiding using my LodeStar x1 06-24-2022 300 Sec, 48 Exposures, Bin 1, Gain 100, Cooling at 0 degrees, 20 Bias, 10 Darks, 20 Flats. After reviewing the exposures 36 were selected.06-25-2022 600 Sec, 30 Exposures, Bin 1, Gain 90, Cooling at -10 degrees, 20 Bias, 10 Darks, 20 Flats. After reviewing the exposures 20 were selected The star layer did give me some issues as I accidentally deleted my original star layer after most of the post processing was done. I had to use a layer from a previous image and align it. On a positive note, guiding was exceptional both nights averaging .38 arc seconds per pixel with PHD2 whilst imaging at .62 arc seconds per pixel. EnjoyBest,Omar

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
