Description

NGC6888 - the Crescent Nebula is a very commonly imaged target. This Nebula with the Wolf-Rayet star WR136 obviously has a high recognition value and very commonly is imaged in the HOO palette.
The Ha and O3 signal are strong in this target. Nevertheless, I decided to collect S2, too. It is much weaker but allows for a interesting colour mapping approach and I wanted to give this target another try this season using a rather unusual approach to colouration.
The basis is a dynamic combination described on thecoldestnights.com ("foraxX palette" https://thecoldestnights.com/2020/06/pixinsight-dynamic-narrowband-combinations-with-pixelmath/). I then combined this with the SHO normalisation by Bill Blanshan (AnotherAstroChannel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpIOSSj4L5g).
The S2 data and the dynamic colour formulas lead to the distinct nebula, in front of a intense red Ha background. Furthermore, I added RGB stars.

Enjoy and CS
Robert
