Markarian's Chain is a stretch of galaxies that forms part of the Virgo Cluster.
Near the center there appear the pair of interacting galaxies NGC 4438 and NGC 4435, about 50 million light-years away, known to some as Markarian's Eyes .
Apart from NGC 4406, which is approaching Earth with a radial velocity of about 244 kilometres/second, the other galaxies move away from Earth at 70 to 2200 kilometres/second.

This was a real joy to photograph and seeing the result on my computer from the first image.
Albeit a bit windy, and after imaging M44, the night looked so promising and I quickly setup this, centering Markarian's Eyes for 100 frames.

I finished just in time before the light in the morning came up and surprisingly I only had 2 lost frames due to wind gusts.

Seeing pictures from Hubble and JWST with many galaxies always made me happy, but taking my own picture with many galaxies was a real joy!

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
