Description

Messier 5 is one of the most remarkable globular cluster in the sky, with its magnitude 5.6 and apparent diameter 23’.
Visible in the Serpens Caput constellation, it is located at a distance of 24500 light years and contains more than 100000 stars.
It is believed to be one of the oldest globular cluster in our galaxy, with an estimated age of 13 billion light years.

For this image I didn’t use neither darks nor flats: for reasons that I have not yet understood, the application of flats and darks created a sort of “corruption” of the core, loosing details.
The core is very bright, but applying the HDR MT process of PI it is possible to remove the brightness and see the stars till in the core.
I have anyway loaded also a B version obtained without applying HDT MT process: in this case the core keeps  its luminosity (without saturation) giving a brighter appearance to the cluster.
Which version do you prefer?
