Description

M77 striking and unusual, a Seyfert galaxy, in the constellation of Cetus. At a distance of some 45 million light years it is one of the largest galaxies in the Messier Catalog. It shines bright at a visual magnitude of 9.6.

This image was taken on a single cold winter night December 17,2023. I noted that atmospheric stability was good, and during the session I lost contact with the dome and needed to shut down to reestablish communications. A bit unnerving...
