Description

The Pacman Nebula
NGC 281 is a diffuse red-glowing emission nebula, it’s large lanes of dark obscuring gas, dust, and dense knots of dust in which stars may still be forming. This nebula is associated with an open cluster of stars called IC 1590. NGC 281 is also known as the Pacman nebula due to it’s resemblance of the video game character,

Taken in Northwest Missouri at the Backyard country observatory, using a Orion 8 inch newtonian astrograph, Canon 60d unmodified, orion starshoot autoguider with 60mm guide scope, all on a celestron AVX mount.

10.2 hours of 4 minutes subs RAW exposures, ISO-1250 no dark, or any calibrations.

Processing registered and stacking in DSS pixlinsight: dynamic crop, Dynamic Background curves background adjustments, non linear stretch in histrogram tran, star mask using the morphology trans for star reduction 3 literations, added a mask used curves, for saturation’s, inverted mask made some background adjustments. 
Photoshop: levels adjustments, unsharp mask, contrast, levels.
