Description

This group of 4 galaxies is located in the constellation of Ursa Major at a declination of +60 degrees.  All 4 of these galaxies are at different distances away and are not interacting.

The largest galaxy here, NGC 5389, is located 100 million light years away.  It is a magnitude 12 galaxy which spans 4.6 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 135,000 light years.   I love the bright core, the inner ring structure and the interesting dust lane.

The other 3 galaxies are all different in structure, highlighter by the ring galaxy NGC 5379, which looks close to NGC 5389 but is actually much closer to us.
