Description

The Bubble Nebula, also known as NGC 7635, is a stunning astronomical wonder located in the constellation Cassiopeia. It is an emission nebula formed by the powerful solar winds of a massive, hot, and young central star, creating a vast cavity in the surrounding interstellar medium. The nebula's distinct bubble-like appearance is the result of the star's intense radiation pressure pushing against the surrounding gas and dust, shaping a magnificent spherical structure. It lies within a larger complex of interstellar gas and dust clouds found about 7000 to 11,000 light-years distant, straddling the boundary between the parental constellations Cepheus and Cassiopeia. Included in the breathtaking vista is open star cluster M52 (top right), some 5,000 light-years away. Below and left of the Bubble Nebula is an emission region identified as Sh2-157, also known as the Claw Nebula.
