Description

This is a fascinating, feature-rich area of the Moon, within and between Mare Imbrium and Mare Frigoris. Plato is on the left with its multiple small craterlets. The Montes Alps, bisected by the Alpine Valley (Vallis Alpes) lie above lava-flooded Cassini. On the right are the Caucasus Mountains, with Exodus and Aristotleles just to the north. At the bottom are the trio of Aristillus, Autolycus and Archimedes, with Aristillus displaying a striking ray system fanning out across the mare.
