Description

This image is a very first test with my new rig,  a 16" Ritchey-Chretien from Astrosib on an Alcor System Nova 120 direct-drive mount. The frames were taken without guiding from the AstroCamp remote observatory, near Nerpio in south-east Spain. All comments are welcome.

The Crab Nebula is an iconic target located in the Taurus constellation about 6500 light years away.  It is the remnant of a bright supernova observed by medieval Chinese and Japanese astronomers in 1054 and its structure is still changing over the years.
