      Description

vdB 152 ( LBN 531) is the bright reflection bit at the tip of the dark Bok globule and pillar of dust that's designated as Barnard 175. Embedded in the lower edge just below the reflection part is Herbig Haro object HH 450, a jet emitting from a newly forming star. I was able to capture it but it's faint and very poorly defined. The filamentary Ha in the image is from supernova remnant SNR 110.3 + 11.3 and the small bit of Ha on the lower left edge is from DeHT-5, an old planetary nebula just off frame.

This target was a bit of a last minute addition to my target list for this last new moon. I noticed it was a good fit for my framing and it was a broadband target perfect for a dark site location so I just added it. I didn't look up any photos of it prior to imaging and really had no idea if it would be a difficult target or not so it's been a pleasant surprise how well it turned out for the relatively short integration time. The Ha signal especially was a nice surprise! Since I hadn't looked up any images of the target prior I also had no idea if there would be any Ha in that area or not but I the moon rose about 45 min before astronomical dawn which gave me the perfect window to shoot some. Upon seeing the masters after stacking the next day I did want to spend at least one more night collecting more luminance and Ha data but clouds rolled in and stayed for the next 5 days so unfortunately it didn't happen. Perhaps I can find the time next new moon to add more data.
