Description

At the time of posting this, there are only 11 other images of this object on astrobin, which is really surprising, as it is very bright with clear distinctions between the narrowband channels. Perhaps this image will help bring it to others’ attention. The little guy on the right (west) is known as BRAN 7B. SIMBAD says it’s a “Interstellar Medium Object.” It clearly emits in H-alpha, so I think it’s just a fragment of the same cloud that Sh2-301 came from.I collaborated with Charles Pevsner to acquire the data on this object. We used a shared scope at DeepSkyChile, where the skies are just incredibly dark. Every image we’ve taken from there is a joy to process compared to my light polluted backyard.
