Kiko Fairbairn is an astrophotographer with a passion for capturing the wonders of the night skies and also for spreading the word of astronomy. His major goal is making astronomy more popular by using photographs as a way to kindle the flame of interest in the general public.
Working towards his goals made Kiko an invited speaker in events such as TED Talks ( https://www.ted.com/talks/carlos_fairbairn_precisamos_olhar_mais_pra_cima ) , Campus Party, CEDIC (Central European Deepsky Imaging Conference) , science TV shows, lectures for multinational Corporations, You Tube live talks and several astronomy-related events, Brazil and abroad.
Kiko´ s images have been featured on many science websites, broad TV, press releases, several books, magazines and newspapers, such as, NASA, European Southern Observatory (ESO) journal, Scientific American magazine, Galileo Magazine, BBC Sky at Night Magazine, Astronomy Magazine, TV Globo (major Brazilian TV network), Folha de São Paulo Newspaper, six page article for Fotografe Melhor magazine (biggest photography magazine in Brazil) and many others.
In 2016 Kiko had the honor to be nominated as winner on the prestigious contest ´ Astronomy Photographer of the Year´, in Sir Patrick Moore´ s category.
