Description

I am lucky to live where I do.  One of the 0.1% of the earth's inhabited land mass with 4500km of the southern auroral pole  allowing regular visibility of the aurora and the Milky Way bulge in the same sky.  Little did I think I would ever see then in the same place in the same sky.

Imaged with my Rokinon 14mm lens around 2am with the galactic centre about 15deg (North!) from the zenith.

Given my southerly location, I didn't want to pass up on the opportunity of imaging  the galactic centre through an auroral display.  I am in my 60s and conscious of the fact I nay never see anything like this again.  Quite humbling really....   Unless ,of course, if happens tonight again.
