Description

I shot the nebula in Ha, OIII, and RGB and originally processed it in HOO+RGB stars. But I thought the RGB palette was more pleasing visually. The HOO image feels like a duo-tone screen printing and lacks the mid-tone.  The RGB image with continuum colors has a translucent feeling that the narrowband image cannot show. So I tried something different here. I used the continuum subtraction method Charles Hagen posted and blended OIII into the RGB image. I used OGG for a synthetic narrowband image but blended it into the B channel. (I tried G, but it does not look particularly nice.) I quite like the final result.

Edit: The OIII/RGB image did not utilize the 2.5 hours of Ha signal. So I use the newly available PixInsight script: Image Blend.  IB adds layers into PI and I was able to get the best of both RGB and HOO without sacrificing any signals.
