This is one of my better results recently, with great color detail for a DSLR, sharpness, and the absolute minimum in background gradients I've been able to obtain despite the light pollution. So much better than my previous shot at this target,
here.
Looking back to post the link, this new version crushes that one by more than I remember! This is sharper by
far, the field is perfectly flat now, better colors, no visible gradients, and the pick-off prism isn't forming artifacts anymore (although that was fixed right after the first image of M13 before). I'm stricken by how much sharper this is. Slight deconvolution helped a lot, too, now that I've sampled the target very well, something that usually never really feels to be the case...
Also improved is a high-quality focal reducer (Starizona) instead of the old Antares (which I didn't even have at the right backfocus distance!) as well as other tweaks to the optical train I've made. I also have stopped imaging with the dew shield; fewer gradients (perhaps ironically)!
Hopefully this optimized setup bodes well for the future as well.
