Description

This is made from just 3 exposures with a Pentax K-1 camera.

It was done to test a home modified lens.

The image was taken with a 50mm lens at f6.7 using a modified circular fixed aperture to create even illumination and no diffraction spikes and pinpoint stars across a full frame sensor. The lens had to be taken apart to achieve this.

There is a slight linear blur in all the stars in this photo at full resolution. This was from strong wind gusts and is not from the modified lens!

No filters were used.

In camera dithering was used to eliminate hot and dead pixels and remove airplane and satellite trails. Pentax K-1 allows the sensor to be shifted to achieve this.

Manual alignment and processing was performed in photoshop using median stacking mode.
