Description

Here is the awe-inspiring Eagle Nebula (M16) with its iconic Pillars of Creation. This bright emission nebula is also a young open star cluster 70 light-years wide and approximately 7,000 light-years from Earth in the constellation Serpens, which can be seen from both hemispheres. The Pillars themselves are only 4-5 light-years wide, but that is as far as the star nearest to us!

Imaged using a dual narrowband filter. We could only get a few hours on the target given our location (trees) and inundation of clouds.
