Description

The Low-Flying Seagull (IC 2177). The past couple nights I've been working on the Seagull Nebula, which has been a challenge because the Seagull never climbs very high in my sky, and the trees on the south side of my yard pose a greater obstacle each year as they grow.  So even though I spent 10 hours on this target over two nights, I collected less than 4 hours of usable data.  It would surely benefit from more.

This is the first image I've captured with the Antlia Triband filter.  I bought it last Spring, but cast it aside after a few lackluster nights on another project--a broadband target on which I used the shorter exposures I would normally have used on a broadband target.  I figured I'd give the filter another try, but this time on a narrowband target with longer exposures.  I really like it--the colors are a bit more natural than what I typically get from the L-eNhance or the NBZ filter, both in the Ha nebulosity and (especially) the stars.
