Description

The Cygnus Loop super nova remnant (2,600 light-years)

15,000 years ago(approx.) a star 20 times more massive than our sun died in a spectacular explosion. Since then, in an ever expanding bubble, the shockwave of that massive blast has been interacting with vast regions of interstellar materials. These beautiful and intricate structures are the result of that interaction. (source:https://hubblesite.org/)

In my image, the gold/yellow structures are ionized hydrogen gas (Hydrogen-Alpha), and the green structures are ionized oxygen (Oiii). This is a semi-false color image, in that hydrogen alpha emits light in the near infrared wavelength, and those areas should appear red instead of yellow. The green is more accurate for the oxygen III.
