Description

The Veil Nebula is a cloud of heated and ionized gas and dust in the constellation Cygnus. It constitutes the visible portions of the Cygnus Loop, a supernova remnant, many portions of which have acquired their own individual names and catalogue identifiers.

I really enjoyed imaging this rich wide field target. The WO Redcat allowed me to capture all the components in one frame which was exciting. Integration time was just under 12 hours over the course of several nights, battling clouds, dew and stray lights. I spent almost one entire night trying to get my framing the way I wanted it but eventually succeeded. I did spend the bulk of my time during the post processing phase. There are so many variations of this target on Astrobin and how imagers perceived what "looks best" for them. I leaned more towards a wispy portrayal as opposed to deeper and sharper edges. I felt this gave the target some true depth in my eyes. One area I focused on was making the background and transition areas more smooth and not forcing color or detail (thanks Lee!). I feel like I accomplished it on this image. Another positive step in the AP journey.

Thanks for viewing and appreciate any and all feedback.
