Description

M80 is one of the more dense globular clusters orbiting our galaxy. It also contains a high number of blue straggler stars--stars that appear to be younger than they should be. Blue stragglers are thought to be the result of the collision and merging of two or more stars in the cluster.

28,000ly, 200,000 stars, 95ly in diameter, 12.54byo

Description: As I close in on completing images of all 110 Messier objects, I want to go back to those I've previously captured and give them another attempt at processing as our tools and my skills have improved. So here's M80 done in that spirit. It's still not great, but I think it is nonetheless greatly improved.
