The longing for the southern sky is unbroken. Another of my dream objects was the Eta Carinae Nebula.

Another object from the southern hemisphere. With Dec. -59 ° not quite as far south as the tarantula nebula. This is also an object that I would like to record myself. Unfortunately, the fog of Central Europe cannot be observed.

The Carinae Nebula, NGC 3372, is a large, complex area of ​​light and dark nebulae in the Carina constellation and is located in the Carina Sagittarius arm. The nebula is an estimated distance of approximately 8,500 light years (2,600 pc) from Earth.

The nebula is one of the largest diffuse nebulae in our sky. Although the Carina Nebula is four times as large and even brighter than the famous Orion Nebula, it is much less known due to its location in the southern sky. It was discovered by Nicolas-Louis de Lacaille on the Cape of Good Hope in 1752.

This was the first photograph with the Sky Rover 130 mm refractor and ZWO ASI094.
