Description

Structures within the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) taken in NB over a few nights during last weeks full moon. It lies in the constellation Tucana and is about 200,000 light years away. Contrary to popular belief, i understand that the Magellanic clouds are nearby galaxies that are passing us by. They do not orbit our own galaxy. However, because the SMC is so close, it has been disrupted from a barred spiral to an irregular galaxy by our own Milky Way galaxy.
