Description

I have been working on improving detail.  This one of the Wizard nebula involved sharpening at the SHO level as well as a sharpened Ha imaged used as Luminance.  This approach improved it quite a bit. I did not use BlurXTerminator though I will probably reprocess this with it in the future.  The starless version allows the detail to be more noticeable and I will probably post a starless version as a revision.

The Wizard Nebula is an emission nebula with significant illumination in the OIII, SII and Ha bands when imaged over time.  I imaged in over several nights beginning on October 8 and ending October 14, 2022.  The primary source of energy exciting the gases comes from a variable binary star system 9.6Kly from the sun and seen in the image just below and to the right of the center of the image.  They are the larger of what appears to be a binary system but they are so close together, they are not resolved in this image.  Their orbital period is just 2.11 days.  They are nearly identical and rare O-Type main sequence stars with an estimated age less than two million years.  They are estimated to be 38 and 34 times the mass of the Sun.
