Description

It's been incredibly cloudy the past few weeks in Nova Scotia.

Along with my RASC Comrades we went out to the St. Croix Observatory and setup our gear.

The seeing was pretty bad it seems, despite having tested my PHD2 settings, I was getting pretty poor guiding. I decided to shorten my exposures to 60sec and only managed to capture 55 Lights due to the galaxy falling below the horizon earlier than I anticipated.

This is my first galaxy and I think it's decent. I would have liked to bring out more colour, but it didn't seem to be there.

I plan to update this image with a better star reduction.

About Andromeda
----

As you gaze upon a picture of the Andromeda Galaxy, located about 2.537 million light-years away from Earth, you're witnessing a grand spiral structure adorned with billions of stars, dust, and gas clouds. Its vastness spans over 220,000 light-years, making it the largest galaxy in the Local Group, which includes our Milky Way. Captivated by its mesmerizing arms swirling outward from a bright nucleus, you're witnessing the dance of cosmic forces, where new stars are born amidst swirling gas and stellar remnants, while gravity shapes the galaxy's elegant form over billions of years. This celestial spectacle offers a glimpse into the profound beauty and complexity of the universe beyond our own galactic doorstep.
