Description

NGC 3718 imaged on 03/24/2022. LRGB 300s. Seeing wasn't the best and I had trouble using Focuslock along with only a dim guide star in the field of view. It required 30s guide images and only brought the ADU count to around 25k. This also really slowed down dithering. My mount doesn't require much correction so the guiding was fine. But, the guide star profile had the secondary shadow in the middle making a double peak PSF. Still, it worked.

NGC 3718 has a prominent dust lane that makes it an interesting target. Halton Arp included it in his "peculiar galaxies".  Although this is considered a spiral galaxy by most astronomers, it is oddly shaped.

There are many other galaxies in the same region including prominent NGC 3729. PI annotation with a couple of catalogs identified most of them. It looks like it missed at least one of the smaller ones on the right-middle and maybe a few others.
