Description

This very bright planetary nebula located in Aquarius has an apparent diameter of about 1' and is located at a distance of 2900 light years from earth. The nebulous shell has been measured to expand at a speed of 21 km/s. This object has the distinction of being the earliest entry in Sir William Herschel's catalogue, recorded on 7 september, 1782.
