Description

The Black Eye Galaxy (also known as Sleeping Beauty Galaxy) is approximately 17 million light years away from Earth and is probably slightly smaller than the Milky Way.

This is a mono image taken through the Luminance filter on my trusty Atik 314L+. It comprises 36 x 150 second and 36 x 60 second subs - no flats, darks or bias frames yet!! The chip was cooled to -10C so maybe I can get away without the darks, but I must do something about the others sometime!! And just to make life interesting it was almost full Moon!

The colour has been added to bring out a little of the spiral detail in the galaxy.
