Description

NGC 6503 is located in the constellation of Draco, about 17MLy from us. It is in a region known as the Local Void. The Local Void is aptly named because it is in fact a large, sparsely populated area where very few bright galaxies are found. As the Local Void is large, 50 -150 MLy in diameter, so NGC 6503 has very few close neighbours and sits in splendid isolation against a background of stars.

My image, taken on a reasonable night, consists of 45 x 120 sec exposures through my 10" Newt/SXH9C combination.
