Description

Apologies that this image is VERY over-processed. It was scanned from a print made from an analogue camera.

Observation was from the eclipse centreline slightly north of Lyndhurst, South Australia, out in the barren, flat wasteland of central Australia. What amazed me most was looking north and south to see the edge of the shadow of totality in the sky. Because central Australia is so flat, you could actually see far enough to see the edge of the shadow of the Moon. I wish I'd got a photo of it.

This was the first solar eclipse that I'd travelled to so that I could see totality. I was hooked, and still I'm hooked. There is nothing like looking up in the daytime sky, which we are so familiar with, and seeing a black hole with flames coming out all around it. Yes, we know what causes that appearance; but it is still a mind-blowing sight.
