Description

Affecting each other gravitationally, Bode's and Cigar galaxy are spiral galaxies about 12 million light‐years away in the constellation Ursa Major. In Cigar galaxy (lower right of image), a starburst galaxy, young stars are being born 10 times faster than they are inside our Milky Way galaxy. This activity is thought to be triggered by its interaction with neighboring galaxy, Bode's galaxy.
