Description

Messier 16 (NGC 6611), commonly known as the Eagle Nebula, an HII region in the constellation of Serpens.

Technical Details:

This LHaRGB composite image consists of 71 frames totaling 24.7 hours of exposure time. Individual exposures include 22 - 900 second luminance frames, 17 - 1800 second 5nm hydrogen alpha filtered frames, 8 - 1200 second red filtered frames, 12 - 1200 second green filtered frames and 12 - 1200 second blue filtered frames. Luminance and hydrogen alpha frames were captured using a Takahashi TOA-130 refractor, QSI583wsg CCD camera, Astrodon GenII filters and Astro-Physics AP900 German equatorial mount. Red, green and blue frames were captured using a Takahashi FSQ-106 refractor, QSI583wsg CCD camera, Astrodon GenII filters and Astro-Physics Mach1 German equatorial mount. Image calibration and processing was accomplished using PixInsight.
