Description

NGC 1365 from my backyard in Perth. I've made a fair bit of progress since last year - this was an unattended 5 hours worth, with a successful meridian flip, auto start and centering and autofocusing. Even better, it all ran off my 150Ah deep cycle battery - just. Next step, same thing under a dark sky.

NGC 1353 is a SBb barred spiral about 56 million light years away in the constellation of the Furnace (Fornax). It's one of the brighter members of the Fornax group, and one of the most spectacular barred spirals I've seen visually.
