reprocess of late 2010 data. banding noise is still evident in the fainter parts of the galaxy even after application of the CanonBandingReduction script. the banding is likely due to underexposure of the subs.
hm. i just realized that since the acquisition predates my use of backyardEOS, some of the subs have the same name (e.g. IMG_0053.CR2). the batchpreprocessing script in pixinsight has overwritten subs with the same name. i actually have almost 100 subs but only 58 were used due to this problem.
okay, "final" version is with 94 subs. i applied the CanonBandingReduction script to each sub using ImageContainer and the results were great. no banding noise visible in the integrated result.
used AdaptiveStretch to do the initial stretch. this kind of clipped the background a bit. maybe i don't know how to use it
i think i went overboard on the colors.
